Ages 4-7 Experience the grace of ballet in the creative Wish Upon a Ballet program with the added fun of energetic jazz dancing. Students will learn ballet and jazz steps and dances with the use of storytelling, musical instruments, stuffed animals and scarves. An introduction to the movements and vocabulary of dance is taught in a fun and creative manner. Children will learn an appreciation of dance and music while developing strength and flexibility.

Gr. 1-5 Love to sing, dance, and act? Join us for a fun-filled theater class where you’ll play creative drama games, learn songs and choreography from musicals, and act out a short script. Each session is different, so new and returning students are always welcome! Along the way, you’ll build confidence, use your imagination, and make new friends while developing important stage skills. Families are invited to a showcase on the last day of class! Bring a water bottle and a nut-free snack every day.

Ages 5-9 Get into the groove. Students will learn upbeat dance styles such as jazz and hip hop and move to favorite songs. Students will also learn warm-ups such as stretching, isolations and across-the-floor exercises. This class is fun and helps improve posture, strength, and flexibility in a positive, self-esteem-building atmosphere.

Grade 1-12. Mikkonen Music offers thirty-minute after-school lessons in piano, guitar, and ukulele. Indicate what instrument you want to book lesson for when registering. Lessons are held weekly in eight-week sessions throughout the school year. Recitals are held in May. Please Note: Before registering with Community Education you must schedule your lesson time with Mikkonen Music. Click here to schedule your lesson times. Ages 3-5 Wish Upon a Ballet is a dance program for children that incorporates popular children’s stories as well as ballet stories to create a dance class that is more than ballet steps. Using musical instruments, stuffed animals and scarves, students create a complete fairy tale experience while they skip, leap, jump and spin.
