Ready to master the royal game? Join our National Award-Winning Chess Club! If you're a 6th-8th grader from Valley View, Oak Grove, or Olson Middle School, this club is for you. Join us on Tuesdays in the early evening in learning this National Award-Winning Program for Middle School Chess Club! Students from Valley View Middle, Oak Grove Middle and Olson Middle school students, this class is for all of you!!! Learning the game of chess promotes imagination, creativity, develops memory, teaches independence, inspires self-motivation, and develops a logical way of thinking. Students are expected to possess a fundamental understanding of chess piece movement. Each class will be based on advanced theory of the game to include analysis, problem solving, and learning together! All learning is done with encouragement and fun on an individual personal level! All in-class equipment is provided. There will be opportunities presented to do individual work in students’ own time to get better in the royal game at each club meeting. Gr. 6-8 In this live virtual eight-week class, middle-school students learn essential fundamentals to build a strong base in Spanish. Topics include numbers, alphabet and pronunciation, days of the week, family members, school vocabulary, common questions and answers, sentence structure, cultural lessons, and conversation practice. Online portal resources and practice tools are included.
