Raising Allies: A Guide to Inclusive Parenting

It is important for kids to learn to navigate differences, and build skills in allyship and advocacy.  There are daily opportunities for parents to intervene and counteract the messages children absorb promoting stereotypes, bias, and "othering."  Come and learn how to parent inclusively, and explore how to increase representation, engage in challenging conversations, and foster cultural competency at home.  Instructor Ashley Oolman is the founder & inclusion consultant of Allied Folk.  Ashley strives to advance community equity through her contributions on AALF’s collective impact task force, and serves on a coalition of providers supporting transracially adopted youth to reinforce their development of positive black identity.  In her free time, she enjoys creating space to coach local parents on inclusive parenting, including children in critical conversations.
